Toxic Free Living

Toxic Free Grass

It's spring time and the sun will soon touchdown to our corner of the Earth. Since most people love to catch the sun, I thought I would suggest some simple tips to help protect your local environment and experience toxic free living.

Most people think of daisies in their grass or lawn as an eye soar that should be eradicated with dangerous pesticides. However, most people don't realize the dangers or consequences of spraying these chemicals on their lawns. Sometimes kids will play or sit in your grass right after an application, which could cause acute health symptoms and perhaps long term health problems. Younger kids are still developing and any sort of chemical that enters there body could negatively impact them.

Animals are other friendly mammals that can play in your grass without you even knowing about it. If they roll around in your lawn that has just been sprayed...well that dog or cat could get really sick.

We all know that in Oregon it rains a lot. The problem of runoff is a serious problem too. Spring time often brings sunshine for a week, and then rain the next. If this is the case, and if you've sprayed your lawn during a sunny week, those rains the next week could cause serious damage to nearby creeks and streams such as the Amazon Creek in Eugene, Oregon.

Using fewer pesticides can keep us all healthier and lessen our impact on the environment. If you are up to the challenge of toxic free living, then I challenge you to change your normal habits. Don't only live toxic free, but encourage your neighbors as well because Oregon is worth protecting.
